I wrote this late last week:

To avoid misunderstanding, let me clarify:

To the best of my knowledge, neither me or my friend has done anything in
violation of the law, or anything close to it. The point was that if I
wrote an innocent question or comment, the authorities could think it was
suspicious, and then waste our time by questioning us. For instance, I
was going to ask him what he has experienced since 9-11, but that could
look suspicious, and so I took the prudent course of action to say
    nothing at all.

I just want to make this clear. I probably should haven't written the
above paragraph in the first place. Since I cannot change that, I have
written this clariication. Please forgive me for the wasted bandwidth.

Ah, but it is not totally wasted. I used nearly 30 lines to make a point
that I will now put forth in one sentence:

I am of the opinion that we should not report observations or produce
TLE's of satellites whose elements are not made publicly available by any
    government of this planet.
