During the summer of 2001 while setting up for a night of viewing, my 10
year old son, Adam, became very excited. he wanted me to look at something
and QUICK! He persisted even though i told him i would look once i finished
levelling my scope. finally, i gave in and gazed along his outstretched
arm. he was pointing to one of the wierdest things i had ever seen in the
sky. through my binoculars it looked like a comet except the tail was
curved under itself in the direction of travel and the whole thing was
moving fast. i thought it might be a helicopter in the distance with extra
heavy exhaust. it vanished quickly in the south behind some trees.
we talked about it for awhile afterward and got back to using the scope.
some weeks or even months later, somebody turned me onto ISS and Shuttle
sightings. it was an immediate hit with the entire family.
at some point i came across this list and noticed that some of you were
discussing water dumps and finally the coin dropped. I am convinced Adam
saw a water dump. had i ignored him for just a few more seconds i would
have missed it. ever since, we have been hoping to catch another water dump
but without success. I realise now just how fortunate i was.
I checked the list again today and found a 30 Nov 02 post by Kurt
(coincidentally, we share the same first name) searcher41@attbi.com in which
he describes a waterdump seen on 29 Nov.
in short, my questions are: Are water dumps scheduled? If so, is the
schedule available to the public? If so, can anybody out there point me in
the right direction? it would be great to see another water dump.
I am located south of Brussels, Belgium (50.73N 4.37E); therefore, viewing
opportunities are rare. (serious light pollution and typically cloudy
skies). still, there is the odd night or two when things clear up.
i have enjoyed this list from the outside so i thought i would jump in.
    thanks,

    kurt
