Thanks Marcus and Robert for taking time to explain in detail how to determine Az and El in the sky. It certainly was a help. But even with practiced sky watchers determination of Az/El of an object, unless it passes close to a known star would only be approximate at best. My question was basically in reference yto determination of Az/El of GeoStatonary Satellite . While the Heavens-Above page gives full orbital data,it does not show AZ/El of the satellite. What I wanted to know was whether there was any way of knowing the Az/El at which these satellites would be seen. Tony Beresford was kind enought o send me the output of HIGHFLY which gives the AZ/EL . I would like to odwnload and use tis programme but I can not find the link. Is it a freeware? I would be greatful if some one could give me the link.
