We had a 57 deg pass of ISS last night which I observed in an 8" SCT at
227x, tracking with LXSat software. At only 10-15 deg elev, I could
already see the basic shape, including the main solar arrays. At max
elev, three sets of arrays of different lengths were easily visible,
along with some detail of the modules. I was able to track the entire
pass in the scope. The tracking got a bit jerky near max elev, but it
settled down every few seconds long enough to get a clear view. I
didn't use any filter. It got pretty bright near the max, so some kind
of filter may have helped, but it was an excellent view without one.
