    Looking at my notes, I find 2 times last year, seen from NE US:
    
    2000 May 08 am  -9 mag  0.1 mi  haze diminished effect somewhat
    2000 Dec 23 pm  -9 mag  0.2 mi  near dusk some residual light
    
    A rare treat, indeed!
