Jonathon, I think they are referring to an earlier Non-meteoric event. The July 23 fireball couldnt really be referred to as an UFO, it only lasted 3 seconds. In general the American meteor Network site http://www.amsmeteors.org/ logs all large meteor reports for North America. It has maps summarizing all the reports of the July 23 event over Pennsylvania. Also has a tabular summary of all fireball reports for 2001 , and older. Useful ammunition to convince any body that bright meteors are more common than satellite re-entries.
